When should
I book my accommodation? |
|
Summer is high season throughout the Canadian
Rockies therefore it is recommended to book
your lodging requirements well in advance to
ensure all your desired properties are available.
If you plan on visiting during the months of
July, August or early September then book at
least 8 months to a year in advance. Book

Winter is also a fantastic time to visit, especially
if you love the outdoors! Most lodging is available
but please note that the cabins/bungalows in
the Jasper area are only open during the summer
months (late April until mid-October). Book

What about my activities? |
|
Summer activities such as whitewater rafting,
Athabasca Glacier Icewalks, horseback riding
and guided tours can be arranged at the same
time that you book your accommodation. If you
know what you would like to do, just let us
know and we will create the perfect package
to suit your requirements. We can also make
some great suggestions to complete your itinerary!
Winter activities such as dogsledding, snowmobiling,
Maligne Canyon Icewalks and Johnston Canyon
Icewalks should be booked in advance as these
are very popular and can book up quite quickly. |

Do I need to rent a vehicle? |
|
If you like to drive and have your own schedule,
then a rental vehicle is a good idea. All major
rental car companies are located at the Calgary
& Edmonton International Airports and we
can also reserve those on your behalf. If you
are arriving by train in Jasper or Banff and
would like to take a few days to drive the Icefields
Parkway, there are rental car companies located
in both towns.
If you need to take some time out from driving,
join one of the Guided Interpretive Tours in
Jasper or Banff to learn more about the area.

|
Are the roads open in
the winter? |
|
Yes, even the Icefields Parkway is open year
round. There can be delays on this highway if
there is a large snowfall but in general, the
roads are kept relatively clear.
Remember, you are in the mountains and the
weather changes frequently so always use caution
when driving. |
